Typical SEO mistakes - and how to avoid them

SEO can be difficult. Many websites have several errors, which limits the ability to rank high in Google. It is often a good idea to make an analysis of the website to find out where improvements can be made.

But what are the most common mistakes in SEO? And how can you avoid making them? This is the theme of this blog post - read below!

Too slow website

A slow website is a common problem. Google sees it quite negatively, and they usually tracker how long it takes to load the page for users. Often, it results in lower rankings when your website is slower than its competitors' pages. Moreover, it is also not good for the general user experience.

How to avoid the error: Find a good web host, do not have too heavy files, and check up on the speed regularly. Google even has a tool that calculates the loading time.

No (or limited) mobile friendliness

Many search for information, products and services via the mobile. If you want to make the most of your SEO efforts, then it is important that you rank well in mobile searches.

However, there are many websites that do not - especially the pages that are not updated regularly enough. It is an SEO error that many people are already aware of, but which nevertheless occurs.

You can avoid the problem by following this simple advice: Use a WordPress theme that automatically has a good mobile version. If you have a specially developed website, then focus on mobile use right from the start.

Lack of keyword analysis

There are many website owners (especially bloggers) who simply write about some topics without checking up on whether there are interested users within the subject.

Reverse: Check out the key keywords within your industry - preferably before you start making content. Use Google's tools and Ahrefs. It is important to optimize your content by keywords that people are actually searching for.

Excessive use of certain keywords

So it is important to use the right keywords, but you should not exaggerate your use of those keywords. It is probably not a good idea to mention your keyword 50 times during an article. Usually it is best if a keyword is used in 1-3% of the content. The most important thing, however, is that it looks natural.

Keeping Track of Your Keywords: Install a plugin like Yoast SEO (or similar), enter your primary keyword, and then you will automatically see if you are using it too much or too little.

Too little content

A large portion of content usually ranks better than a little bit of content. Previously, you could rank well in Google by writing 300 words and having a single image up, but it no longer goes. It is difficult to tip high if your content is less than 500 words and has no other elements (such as images, video, infographics, etc.).

The solution is simple: Make good content with fill. At the same time, remember that every article does not have to be excessively long. Just make your content far enough for you to answer a problem or describe a product in the best possible way.

Copied content

Copied content is a really bad idea. First of all, it is immoral to steal content from other sites, but you can also be sure that Google discovers it.

We hardly need to tell much more: don't stop copying, and if you absolutely have to quote a text from another source, make it clear that it is a quote and use only a small part of that content .

Limited focus on link building

Linkbuilding is one of the most significant disciplines in SEO. One of the most typical SEO errors is not focusing enough on it. With good (and many) links you will almost always rank better, so if you have a weak link profile, you will not get much of your website's potential - even if you are doing crazy good content.

Solution: Focus more on link building and start using some of the most common ways to get links.
